Many people stick to a light, healthy diet when they commit to intermittent fasting. One example is the Mediterranean diet, which consists of leafy greens, healthy fats and complex carbohydrates. Is Intermittent Fasting Safe?

When done correctly, intermittent fasting is a safe and effective method to address various health issues. It is also helpful for weight management. While many benefits come from intermittent fasting, some groups of people should not fast:

  • Children under the age of 18

  • Type I diabetics who use insulin

  • Those with a history of eating disorders

  • Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
