COVID-19: Tips on Prevention, Managing the Virus, and Post Viral Complications

Written by TelewellnessMD | May 19, 2021 3:58:57 PM

COVID-19 stands for Coronavirus Disease, which is a respiratory illness caused by SARS-CoV-2. People with COVID-19 have a wide range of experiences from no symptoms to severe illness including death. Like other viruses, COVID spreads from person-to-person through respiratory droplets from exposures such as coughing, sneezing and close talking.

If you look at the statistics available on Center For Disease Control website, the mortality rate remains very low for COVID-19 across all age brackets below the age of 60, especially those that are healthy. It is rare that healthy individuals are developing aggressive acute or chronic symptoms. Another complicating factor is figuring out the influences of our normal seasonal colds and influenza that can present similar to COVID.

Take Control of Your Health

Although progress is being made, the United States healthcare system is not designed to keep us healthy or prevent disease, but rather provide treatments for illness. Less than five percent of doctors are practicing non-traditional medicine, which leaves people having to find their own solutions for health and wellness.

Understanding the impact COVID-19 virus has had on the world, we need to think about the state of our health now and for any future pandemics. Experts have repeatedly mentioned those with underlying health conditions including diabetes, obesity, smoking and heart disease are at a higher risk for developing more severe symptoms than those that are healthy.

According to the 2000 nationwide Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey, only 3% of Americans had all of four simple healthy lifestyle characteristics:

• No tobacco use
• Healthy body weight
• Eating five servings of fruits and vegetables a day
• Regular exercise

This statistic provides a large part of the explanation for our increasing health crisis, but also proves there is tremendous opportunity for the majority of Americans to be healthier and better prepared for any similar situations.

The most important take home message from the 2020 pandemic – invest in the necessary resources for your health and wellness.

Healthier Lifestyles = Healthier Immune System

Preparation is Key

Doctors around the country now support that COVID is very manageable when therapy is initiated early and aggressively. The key is to be prepared and take preventative therapies immediately and start COVID management as soon as symptoms begin.

Doctors that have treated thousands of cases have found the following therapies to be helpful for reducing the risk of acquiring COVID or decrease the severity and duration of the infection if you were to get it.

Beyond the basics of hygiene and extra precautions when out in public places, the most important prevention is to take the nutritional supplements now and during the flu season months. The other essential preventative measure is to focus on a healthy lifestyle with regular sleep, balanced diet and regular exercise.

Basic Prevention:
• Clean your hands often, either with soap and water for 20 seconds or a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick
• Stay home if you have symptoms of illness
• Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze
• Clean and disinfect your home as needed

Prescription Prevention Support:

The following prescription therapies at TelewellnessMD® have been very effective at supporting the immunes system. We have observed many patients in our clinic that have had reduced severity of symptoms when infected with COVID 19 or other viral syndromes when on one or a combination of the following therapies:

2. CoQ10 Injections

Those that develop symptoms, please see the active COVID or virus supportive regimen below. You can still remain on all supportive oral and injection therapies for the duration of the plan.

Active Viral Symptoms or Confirmed COVID 19 Infection

***Please note that the FDA, CDC and WHO have not considered hydroxychloroquine indicated to treat COVID 19. During this pandemic, hospitals are being overwhelmed by COVID patients, which could have been managed at home. Throughout the country, licensed medical doctors from various specialties have publicly announced they have managed thousands of patients using the regimen stated below with almost 100% success rate. We must do what has been found to be successful to save lives and remove the burden of cases that certain hospitals are unable to care for.

Telemedicine visits are being helpful to provide solutions quickly to people in need and have been directly supported by our government agencies. The regimen below is not intended to treat, cure or mitigate disease, but rather give the clinically observed support, which can help people safely manage viral syndromes such as COVID 19 at home.

Remember, when the supportive plan is started early, people may not develop severe symptoms and can quarantine and manage the viral syndrome at home similar to other seasonal viral illnesses. Ask your doctor if they have a COVID plan that you can have prescribed and available if you are to develop symptoms.

Many doctors have been censored after sharing their successful protocols for treating COVID on the news and online. For those at higher risk or with more severe symptoms hundreds of doctors have used hydroxychloroquine, along with azithromycin to prevent secondary pneumonia. These drugs have been blocked for doctor prescribing from many main pharmacy chains, but available at compounding pharmacies. For this reason Telemedicine companies are providing protocols but only through certain pharmacies and insurance cannot be applied.

Isolate. If you are like most people with COVID and have mild symptoms you can recover at home without medical care. Do not leave your home, except to get medical care. Do not visit public areas. If you are around high-risk individuals at home take the necessary precautions for those around you.
Self-care at home: To manage the illness the best, make sure you stay hydrated, get rest and treat any symptoms you develop as needed. Take over-the-counter medicines or call your primary care doctor if needed.
Use your primary care doctor first. Most people do not need to seek evaluation at hospital or ER. If you develop worsening symptoms such as shortness of breath, start by calling your primary care doctor immediately for medical guidance and treatment to not overwhelm our hospitals.

Post Viral/COVID Syndrome

A small percentage of patients recovering from the current COVID 19 are reporting a broad range of persistent and sometimes debilitating symptoms centered around mental and physical fatigue, pain, shortness of breath that have extended several months into the post infection period.

These symptoms are a characteristic of mostly unexplained post-viral illness syndromes that have been found to occur in other viral infections such as Epstein Barr, Cytomegalovirus and various herpes strains. It is characterized by severe post-exertional fatigue that is not relieved by rest, and as well as pain, severe cognitive dysfunction, insomnia and/or lack of restful sleep, and sensitivity to light and sound, lasts for longer than six months.

Although the exact cause of post viral syndromes is unknown, it is quite clear it is related to a deficiency in the immune system or energy production. Our immune system is one of the largest consumers of our internal energy production and can quickly create a deficiency when faced with certain infections. When someone with underlying disease states along with energy deficiency is faced with serious infections they are highly susceptible to have a poor immune response.

Our cellular energy production increases with quality sleep, exercise and specific nutrient dense foods. Cellular energy is used to power our ordinary body functions, but decreases with age, illness, certain medications and some genetic conditions. This tug of war on our energy eventually will eventually lose if simple supply and demand is not managed.

This is a good explanation why people with disease, including obesity, have a higher risk of aggressive COVID illness as well as the influence lifestyle has on our ability to fight it.
